Schools Champions, 2 Commonwealth Games athletes.
1981 British Athletics National Coach – North West
For a time chief coach for GB U20 teams
Later Chief Jumps coach for British Athletics
Attended the following Games as team coach - European Junior and World Junior Championships, 3 x World Student Games, European and World Senior Championships and 3 x Olympic Games.
1997 BAF Folded, UKA came into being, all National Coaches made redundant.
Athletics Career
1964 Olympic Games – Semi-finalist 400m Hurdles
1966 Commonwealth Games – Bronze Medals in 440yds Hurdles and 4 x 440yds Relay.
Coaching
10 x ESAA Champions of which, 2 had U20 Internationals, 2 Senior Internationals and 1 Olympian who also won Silver at 400mH in the Commonwealth Games. Also 3 other Olympians of which one still holds the British 400m Hurdles record (Kriss Akabusi). Also 1 female former British record holder at 400m Hurdles.
Coached my wife Caroline to 6.05m long jump and England Internationals plus a 12m+ Triple Jump.
Worked with athletes at Kirkham Grammar School. Their team were English Schools Cup Finalist for 4 consecutive years in my time working with them.
Currently coaching a group of U23 to Masters Athletes in 100m, 200m, 400m & 400m Hurdles at Preston Harriers.
