01 07 18. Just started throwing again (shot only) after a 33 month lay off. Slow, stiff, weak, several injuries already, and nearly two stones under optimum throwing weight. Had to abandon the glide because of right hip wear and tear, so at last I'm going to have to learn the rotation! So, all going very nicely so far!! Plus, the 7.26 shot seems too heavy to train with at last!! Should be relieved!! No plans to compete unless my distances improve considerably and rapidly!! What are the chances!! "Accept gracefully the counsel of the years" or similar is the advice given in the wisdom stuffed Desiderata. It isnae easy, but there isnae really a choice . .
16 06 23: Forgot to come back to finish off the above. Unsurprisingly, and inevitably, that little burst of activity was soon ended by a right forearm injury which took 30 months to heal, and 5 years later is still problematic.
13 07 23. Started throwing about 3 weeks ago after 4 months of weight training intended to toughen up tendons and ligaments in preparation for throwing, and yet again injuries have stopped me in my tracks. R Hamstring this time for the first time ever, with a left calf injury also hampering training, and preventing me from rotating. Suspicious that my daily beta blocker is making me more susceptible to injuries. .
17 08 23. Did a proper number on my R hamstring on 29 07 and then gave it another whack in the gym on 12 08. Right calf went 09 08 when out walking (yep!) trying to rehab the faulty hamstring. R knee is now unstable!! It's been a fun year. Looking forward to more of the same in 2024 . . . |
